50's Bungalow Apron

I started this vintage bungalow pattern quite a while ago, but when it came to putting on all that bias tape... that wasn't really my thing.

But I finally got it out and completely finished it, so I now have a new apron!



I love that it covers so much, cuz I can be very messy when cooking... I really like the way it crosses around and closes with the little white buttons, too. :o)



Interesting quote from the 50's about bungalows:

So my project is completed and I even have a new apron out of the deal. A 50's one, too. Could life get any better? :oP

Baby Dress

No, I haven't forgotten that I have a blog. And I have been doing a fair amount of crafting. But have I done much on the computer? Nope...

I made this little baby dress last week and am finally getting around to posting it! Kiri found the Itty Bitty Baby Pattern a couple years ago, and I thought it would be great for some stash-busting!



I will probably be making 2 more dresses from this pattern soon, since I have 2 more pieces of this fabric in different colors. I originally bought three of the same fabrics(in different colors) to make dresses for three of my baby dolls. It was going to be one of my first sewing projects... hmm...



I'm planning to embellish all 3 a little differently. The bow was a last minute thing that I added (originally I was gonna put on rickrack, but I didn't end up having any that was the right color...) because I had the perfect amount of binding tape left. I think a ribbon bow would look better, though, so maybe I'll change it.



This project was really fast and easy. If you have 1/2 a yard of fabric lying around and want a quick project, I recommend this sweet little dress!



Does it seem I'm all about baby things recently? Maybe it's cause I know lots of ladies that are pregnant? And baby things are always so sweet. :o)

Finished Boat Baby Blanket!

I finished the top and got the backing fabric for this blanket a while ago, but hadn't bothered to actually finish it yet...



But when I got my new Heritage Celtic Thunder cd, I wanted something I could do and listen at the same time, and finishing this up was the thing! :o)



Now I'm dreaming of a future day when I'll be playing with a sweet little baby boy on this blanket... :o)

40's Fashion Fun

We’ve been watching some Foyle’s War recently (review here), and I was very much looking forward to the episode “War Games” with Emily Blunt. I had heard that her costumes were beautiful, and I wasn’t disappointed!



I still haven’t figured out what the print on the above dress is, but it’s very cute. She also has lovely hair styles, particularly her up-dos. (Though I didn’t get any good pictures. Maybe I’ll do a hair post someday featuring her…)



They had such cute clothes in the 40’s! :o) Her character keeps bees, too, which was a personal inspiration, cause I’m getting ready to study-up on bees for when we get them in the spring. :o)



I think the above dress might be my favorite, and maybe one day I’ll recreate it (or make something similar). The fabric is so darling, and I love the ruffles and buttons! It has ties in the back, too, and I love dresses with pockets! :o)

New Quilt

New quilt fabrics and some old scraps have been cut into many, many squares and triangles, and my sister and I have started piecing the new quilt for our bed!



So far Keely has done most of the work (she was cutting while I was knitting) but we've both been piecing, and I'm so excited! We're going to repaint and redecorate our room to go with our new bedspread... It's going to be lovely! :o) Look for updates as we continue...

And Happy Valentines Day!

Went to JoAnns today...

...and came home with some new goodies! Floss needed for my cross stitch, backing for my baby blanket, and stuff for some new projects...



But I'll be posting about those later. Now I'm all excited and ready to start working! :o)

Blanket top done!

I put the last rows together today, so now my blanket top is finished!



It's got a sailor look with the embroidered sailboats that match the blue fabric...



I didn't get backing when we were last at the fabric store, so it's time for an always welcome occasion - a trip to JoAnn's! :o)
