Summer Dresses

Since I started my blog I have wanted to post some of my favorite past projects, which were two summer dresses I’ve made in the last couple years. The first one I made was my lemon dress from See and Sew 4957. (Doesn’t it remind you of a 50’s/60’s housedress?)

I liked it so much that I made another one, with a few slight alterations…

Well, I decided that having three dresses off the same pattern is okay if it’s a fun pattern, right? So, when I was at JoAnn’s and discovered that their clearance fabrics were 40% off the clearance price, I just had to get some floral for only $2.50 a yard!

I have the dress cut out and ready to line. I just need to get out my white cotton... Hooray for clearance sales! It’s an easy pattern, so it shouldn’t take me too long, and I’m hoping to have it finished before we go to the beach. :o)

New Headband! :o)

I wanted to sew the other evening so I opened my closet, looked at my stash of extra fabric, and pulled out some scraps from a couple years ago. And then with a little measuring, a few snips, and a bit of sewing - TADA!!! I've got a new headband!

I was inspired by this tutorial from Casey. I didn't really follow it, though, cuz my headbands weren't the same size, and I didn't want my bow that big. For my bow I just made a little rectangle and pulled in the middle... :oP

I really like it, and will probably make another. Maybe I'll try to put a flower on the next one... :o)

Always fun to have a new headband. YAY!!!

Truly Textured Dishcloth

Some of my friends and I have been all about knitting and crocheting recently, so last week I knit a dishcloth!

It's from the Leisure Arts "Dishcloths By the Dozen" booklet. I've used this pattern before, and really like it! A quick and easy project for a couple evenings with a movie... :o)

A little peek...

So, I started sewing something the other day, and I've been going back-and-forth about whether to share before the project is finished or not... I've decided not. But I did think I would give ya'll a little hint with these delightfully inspiring images from Vogue's website... (Sorry they are fuzzy, but my computer is having a slight issue... you can find the clear ones on their site.) (oh, and another hint, the black and white theme is Vogue's, not mine...)

And, even though this has absolutely nothing to do with crafting, aren't they ADORABLE?

Shell Jewelry

Last summer when my friends and I went to the beach we collected tons of little shells, so I've recently started turning them into jewelry! So far I've made a necklace and a bracelet and a half... I really love them!

They are so summery with the shells, and I'm totally ready for summer! It's just so fun to decide what colors I want to use and where to put the shells... :o)

Dawn Treader

The Voyage of the Dawn Treader came out on DVD and Blu-ray yesterday! The Narnia movies are some of my absolute favorites, so I'm very excited! :o)

They have some really gorgeous costumes in these films. The vintage ones are so cute, and I love fantasy costumes!

Aren't the buttons up the side of Susan's dress delightful?

I really like the buttons on Lucy's coat, too.

This blouse reminds me a lot of Susan's Train blouse from The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe...

It's a shame they don't have more costume changes in this one, though it does make sense with the story... still, I would have liked to see a Narnian girl costume, cuz those are usually my favorites. :o)

I really like the deleted scene that talks about Lucy having to wear Caspian's boy clothes. So funny. :o)

And for an ending side note, isn't the quilt on the bed beautiful?

Audrey Hepburn in Charades…

…wears some of the cutest coats! I love how her coats are always slightly longer than her dresses; it’s just so retro and cute! :o)

I love brightly colored coats like this red one! She's wears some of the cutest hats, and even though I’m not really into leopard print, I think Audrey pulls it off well.

But this gold coat has to be my favorite. Isn’t it adorable? I love the black accessories! :o)

And I just love her last outfit here with her little white hat and gloves. So vintage!
