Sailor dress pattern!

One of my darling sisters bought me this delightful vintage pattern off eBay recently, and I love it!

I've been wanting to make a sailor dress, and this one is beautiful! I love the full skirt version! Something to add to my sewing list. :o)

Ship Cross Stitch Book

A dear friend who is a great inspiration gave me this cross stitch book knowing how much I love ships.

I’m so excited to make one of these! I’m planning to hang it in my room. As soon as I finish my Paula Vaughn I know what I'm gonna do next. :o)

Georgie Henley's London Premiere Dress

I enjoy looking at the clothing worn to different premieres and things, and I’ve learned to really enjoy looking at Georgie Henley’s style of clothing. When Narniaweb posted about the Voyage of the Dawn Treader's premiere in London, I was excited to see what she wore…

And I really love it! It’s one of the most modest premiere dress I’ve ever seen, and the brown lace is so beautiful!

The neckline is so gorgeous, and I love the layers of the skirt!

Peep toe shoes are great, too. :o)

And while I’m posting pics of Georgie’s, here’s another outfit I thought was really cute...

Stack of Squares

I know I just posted about this yesterday, but this is what I'm working on right now. And I love looking at this stack of cut squares ready to be laid out and sewn together... (well, after I've embroidered a few little boats)

You can kinda see how tall it is because of the teacup sitting beside it. I'm wondering how many baby blankets I can get from these... 2 or 3 maybe?

Blanket squares

I went to the fabric store on Monday so now I have the stuff I need to finish a couple of my projects. I also got the other fabrics for my baby blanket. So I've traced all the squares on the fabric and am working on cutting them out...

Then I'll lay them all out and start sewing! Look for updates soon!

Quick Update

I've been busy doing school, but I have been cross stitching, so you'll get an update on that when you can actually see a big difference. I'm also working on a post about one of Georgie Henley's premiere dresses, and I've got some sewing projects to put up when I have time...

So here's a post to say that I'll be posting soon!

Crusoe

I first heard about Crusoe on Anna's blog and was very interested. It is a television show based on Robinson Crusoe and is simply amazing!

Naturally, it is mainly on the island, but there are many sequences about England. In these Crusoe's wife - Susannah - is featured wearing her beautiful clothing!

I recently made a cape partly based off Susannah's and will be sharing notes on that soon... But in the meantime here are some of her other lovely dresses.

Someday I might do a costume study on this show, because it is one of my absolute favorites! But for now I'm just sharing some photos and highly recommending it!

Cross Stitch

Growing up Mom wanted to pass on a love of sewing to her three daughters, so when I was ~7? for Christmas I received a little plastic sewing box and a tiny flower cross stitch kit. My little 7-year-old self was very excited until she didn’t count her stitches correctly and her beautiful purple flower turned into a purple blob with a yellow dot in the middle. This little girl was very discouraged, and quickly put the cross stitch away with thoughts that one day she might get it out and rip out all her lovely stitches. But not anytime in the near future...

Well, that day never came – in fact I think I might still have that purple blob somewhere – but about two years ago I did rediscover the art of cross stitching. I received an antique cross stitch sampler set as a gift, and decided to give cross stitching another try... And loved it!

This led to making a wedding gift for a friend…

And about a year ago I started a Paula Vaughn pattern. I’m still working on it, but after much stitching and unstitching those stitches, then stitching them again, there’s finally good progress getting made!

You can’t tell what it is unless you know what it’s supposed to be. Here’s what the finished product will look like, and if you look at the two you should be able to tell where I am.

I will confess; I haven’t always worked on it consistently because even after 9 years I still gets discouraged when ripping out scores of stitches… But I have realized that if every time you make a mistake you stop, you’ll never get anything finished. And I really like finished projects. :o)

Baby Boat Blanket

At JoAnn fabrics a few months ago I found the cutest fabric in the nursery prints that had lots of little boats on it and said "Little Sailor" all over it. It was so sweet, and being a lover of all things nautical, I thought "When I have a little boy he needs a little sailor blanket!" But I hadn't brought any money with me, so I decided I would get it next time we were there.

Well, it seems that they don't have any more. So when we went to JoAnn's last week I decided I was going to buy the next best thing. The anchor accent fabric, and another fabric, not as good, but it still has little boats on it. I'm planning to embroider blocks with that little ship on them, and it will look nautical. So now I'm excited about making my first baby blanket!

Bungalow Aprons

A couple years ago I discovered vintage 50's bungalow apron patterns. I was immediately in love! Aprons are always handy to have around when cooking, and what could be better than one from the 50's?

On eBay we purchased an adult and child version, but I was very disappointed not to be able to get the teen version.

So my sister, knowing that I really wanted it, found that version and gave it to me for Christmas! I was so excited!

So now my bungalow apron pattern collection is complete! Yay!
